Show 709: Office Your Face – 14th March, Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London

At the Rogerson & Rogerson Photocopying Business, the company motto is: You can’t mix photocopying and pleasure. And that is certainly the case for the estranged husband and wife team – Jonathan and Sandra – who run the business. When two employees, Richard and Carla, fall in love, they have to hide it from their work colleagues. but it is more complicated than that, because it turns out that Richard is an undercover policeman, investigating a mysterious corporate takeover attempt of Rogerson & Rogerson.

Richard, with Carla’s help, uncovers a dastardly plot by Sandra to take complete control of the business form her husband. In this she is assisted by the brilliant criminal mastermind Janet (who has also been the office janitor for 42 years). But when it gets to court, Sandra can only be convicted if her husband testifies against her. But he still loves her. Can he do it?

In a theatrical coup, the show featuring Richard as the man who lost his voice. His microphone was inactive – so he could only be heard when he spoke into the microphones of the other actors. Brilliant.
