Show 1054 – Oops, I Did It Again – 5th March – The Other Palace, London

A confessional booth in a church

Clemency, the daughter of Lord and Lady Campbell is confessing to her priest, father McCallister. She admits that she is in love with Arthur, a member of the Royal College of Physicians. Her father has warned her against moving outside of her life of privilege – he has given her an excellent education – she is intelligent and headstrong. But the priest chooses to help them and marries them in secret in the cemetery in the grounds of the Campbell mansion. However, her marriage to the weak-willed Arthur is an unhappy one, as his misogynist friends cannot accept Clemency as their equal. Meanwhile her mother has left her father and father McCallister is drinking too much. Will any of them find happiness again?
