Rodney runs the funeral parlour; Samantha and Joe are his two employees – and great friends. Rodney is in love with Samantha and asks Joe to put in a good word for him.

Joe tries to persuade Samantha to go on a date with Rodney – although she likes Rodney, she is not interested romantically. Joe does a deal with her – if she goes out on one date with Rodney, then he, Joe will take her out on a subsequently night and paint the town red. She agrees.

But, much to everyone’s surprise, Sam falls for Rodney on their date, at which point Joe realises that he loves her too. The rivalry and heartbreak commence…
