Show 659: Lunarcy – 31st October matinee, Apollo Theatre, London

NASA at the time of the moon landings – 1969

Graham and Charlene are head of NASA’s efforts to send a manned mission to the moon. They have sacrificed everything else for this one obsession so when the rocket carrying Neil Armstrong explodes because of Graham’s corner cutting, they decide to cover it up. They film themselves staging a space-based musical on a realistic looking set and the world’s media are fooled into thinking it is real. But then the trouble starts: the Russians poke their noses in; Time reporter of the year Annabel Jenkins is sniffing around, and Charlene starts to wonder if she can sustain either the lies, or her relationship with Graham…
