Show 408: The Secret in the Night, Dec 9th, Charing Cross Theatre, London

London, 1940. Kindly widower George Fairweather serves his customers in his butcher’s shop and gives extras to the deserving outside the ration-book. Widow Mrs Simpkins works with him and the two, bound together by grief, fall in love, but neither confesses to it. Then the secrets begin to be unveiled. Why does George go to the exotic dance hall The Windmill Rooms? What happened 20 years earlier to Miss Simpkins? Why are dancers Dorine and Clarice so close to them both? What will detective Pinkerton find in the filing cabinet of secrets in London’s sewers? And what if Pinkerton has the biggest secret of all?
