Show 629: Yes, Westminster – 7th October, Apollo Theatre, London

The question set by the audience was this: how do you get to be buried in Westminster Abbey?

The answer ended up as a tale of spirituality vs greed; of love and revenge. Bennet, the gravedigger with poetic ambition, is in love with the widow Marie, who’s husband lies buried in the Abbey; Jeffrey, who is courting Marie, is the atheist treasurer of the Abbey and is desperate to raise money, even insisting on digging up graves of old artists and replacing them with the the undeserving but rich. Janice the vicar of Westminster Abbey (actually a ‘peculiar’, we are told), is in forbidden love with her assistant Peter.

It’s a potent mix – and it almost brings about the end of the Abbey…

Featuring Donald trump and a Thriller-style dance routine from all the dead poets.
