Show 526: Me, Myself and Samurai, 15th August, Gilded Balloon Teviot, Edinburgh Festival Fringe

19th century Japan – the end of the era of the Samurai

Yoshi is the only son of the last remaining family of Samurai. His father sends him to meet his arranged bride, the only way for the samurai line to continue. But he discovers that Lotus Monkey is a moderniser – with thoughts of freedom, self-expression and driving tractors.

Will Yoshi and Lotus Monkey be able to find a way to be happy together? And can Lotus Monkey’s mother, Willow Monkey, be able to soften Yoshi’s father’s stony heart and bring the families together?

Featured haikus spoken around a cherry tree and a terrible tractor accident.
