Fountains Abbey, 1132. Brother Michael has fallen for Sister Maria, in the first mixed religious order. In the crypt they resolve to run away together, hearing no rumbles of thunder, or condemnation from God. But Father Ignatius is unconvinced and they are banished to run Betty’s Tea Shop with the foul mouthed Betty. 10 years of happiness pass, but once again, Father Ignatius and ‘fat cat’ King Henry I (All Hail King Henry I! All Hail King Henry I!) arrive and demand their return to religious orders. Will they be allowed to be together? Will God allow them love? Or are they doomed to roam alone forever?
